American Girl Doll event postponed

Our Town Correspondent

The fifth American Girl Doll Family-A-Fair has been postponed at Sunnehanna Country Club, Johnstown.

The event will feature a buffet lunch, arts and crafts activities, a dance performance, a child hair station and a child beauty station.

An American Girl Doll ear piercer will once again be on-site, as will American Girl Doll vendors who will be selling American Girl Doll clothing and accessories. A LuLaRoe vendor will also be selling adult and child clothing.

All attendees will be eligible to win free door prizes, plus prizes that include American Girl Doll shoes and accessories and a Wellie Wisher Doll. The grand prize will be the 2020 American Girl Doll, “Joss.”

Children who attend the event are invited and encouraged to bring their American Girl Dolls with them. An American Girl Doll parade will take place during the event.

The buffet lunch menu includes: salad, chicken noodle soup, an assortment of tea sandwiches, and assorted desserts (including chocolate covered strawberries).

Tickets for the event are on sale now and can be purchased by calling CACCC at 814-255-6515. Pre-registration is required. The deadline to register is April 1.

“As we get ready to celebrate our 5th anniversary of this exciting event,” said CACCC Executive Director Angela Godin, “it makes me think about how this fundraiser all began. Rose Mary Hagadus, former executive director of CACCC, was speaking with me about how incredibly popular American Girl is and how great it would be to create an event that merged it with arts and crafts. So, we set forth, and now, five years later, it is still just as popular.

“Rose Mary has stayed active in a variety of ways for this event over the years and still does to this day. Our dynamic partnership with Sunnehanna Country Club creates a great aesthetic to the atmosphere we want to give our attendees. It’s going to be another great event and we hope we continue to have many newcomers, along with returning individuals.”
