The Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center, located on the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown campus, will commence its 26th season with a performance by Bindlestiff Family Cirkus on Sept. 20.
“Bindlestiff Family Cirkus combines circus, vaudeville, burlesque and sideshow, so it’s going to be really cool,” said PPAC Executive Director Michael Bodolosky. “These guys have been all over the world, and we’re really happy to bring them to Johnstown.”
Bindlestiff Family Cirkus has been entertaining audiences at theaters, clubs, colleges and festivals since 1995. Some of the most prestigious venues and festivals they have performed at include: Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall in New York City; Glastonbury Festival in the United Kingdom; Bonnaroo in Tennessee; AEMI International Clown Festival in China and SuperGiant Carnival in Thailand.
Audiences can expect to see Michael Karas juggle and manipulate props; Susan Voyticky perform acrobatic and aerial acts and Keith Nelson spin plates and swallow swords, plus other circus artists who delight in surprising and “wowing” audiences.
“This is going to be highly entertaining,” Bodolosky said.
The show will begin at 7:30 p.m., but doors will open an hour earlier so members of Bindlestiff Family Cirkus can entertain ticketholders in the PPAC lobby until showtime.
Tickets for Bindlestiff Family Cirkus are on sale now. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.upjarts.org or call the box office at 814-269-7200.
“We’re excited to be kicking off our new season with Bindlestiff Family Cirkus,” Bodolosky said. “Come on out and have a great time with us.”
