The Kingwood Picnic has been operated by the Kingwood Oddfellows Lodge 1010 since 1920. The event started as a community picnic where families, blankets and picnic baskets in tow, gathered to enjoy a day of fellowship. As the event grew, the picnic became known as the "Home of Somerset County's First (and best, we might add) Barbecue Chicken Dinner". Presently, the day is an organized event that includes live music, a car show, horseshoe tournament, arts and craft vendors, cash and basket raffles, BINGO, children's entertainment, and food stands that sell various foods, including the original recipe barbecue chicken. Free camping is also available for Friday and Saturday nights. The Kingwood Picnic still, since 1920, offers free parking and admission. All proceeds are used by the Kingwood Oddfellows Lodge 1010 to help community members in need. It is always held on the last Saturday of August. Come to the next Kingwood Picnic...it's a riot!!!
